Valued ProFMs, FM professionals, and colleagues,

After careful consideration, the Professional Facility Management Institute (ProFMI) has made the decision to discontinue future sales of the ProFM Credential Program and will focus our efforts on supporting in-progress candidates and those who have earned their ProFM credential.

We understand that this news may come as a shock and disappointment, but unfortunately the adoption of the ProFM credential has not reached the level needed to sustain the program into the future.

For ProFM Credential Holders:

  • Your ProFM credential remains a significant achievement that you should continue to be proud of.
  • Going forward, it will be considered a lifetime credential, with no requirements for renewal credits.
  • You can and should continue to list it on your resume or CV. The knowledge and skills you built throughout the training are a huge asset for your career.

For In-progress Learners:

  • You can and should continue your ProFM Credential Program training.
  • You will have access to the online study tools and assessments for your entire 12-month online license period.
  • When you successfully complete your ProFM online final assessments, you will earn the ProFM credential. It will be considered a lifetime credential, with no requirements for renewal credits.
  • You are encouraged to list it on your resume or CV. The knowledge and skills you built throughout the training are a huge asset for your career.

We understand the time, effort, and dedication you have put into your ProFM studies and assessments. We want to express our deepest gratitude for your commitment to professional development. If you have questions or concerns about how this decision will impact you, please email us at ProFM@ProFMi.org.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Why is ProFM being discontinued?

A: Unfortunately, the adoption of the credential and training program wasn’t at a pace required to sustain necessary program updates and staffing support. So, we had to make the very difficult decision to discontinue the program.

Q: What is the value of my ProFM credential now that it’s being discontinued?

A: You’ve completed a very thorough FM training program that will serve you throughout your career. The ProFM credential signifies that you have the drive, knowledge and competency to advance in the profession. You can and should continue to list ProFM in your credentials throughout your career.

Q: Can I still buy the program?

A: Yes, we will continue to facilitate purchases until August 15, 2024 for those who want FM training. Those individuals will have a full year to complete the program.

Q: If I’m in the middle of the program, how long will I have to finish my training/earn my credential?

A: To allow you to complete the program and earn your ProFM credential, you will continue to have full access to the online training and assessments for the full 12 months of your product license. If your license has expired and you would like to complete the program, you can contact ProFM@profmi.org to request an extension.

Q: Will employers be able to validate that I’ve earned the ProFM credential?

A: We will maintain the ProFM Credential Registry until December 31, 2027. Employers can search for ProFM credential holders by last name at https://profm.partnerrc.com/am/@@credentialsearch.
