In order to keep the swimming pool clean and safe, the pool has to be free of dirt, debris, algae, fungi and bacterial. This is achieved by regular cleaning and disinfection.

Swimming Pool Basic Cleaning Equipment
The basic swimming pool cleaning equipment include:
- Telescopic pole.
- Net.
- Vacuum head.
- Vacuum hose.
- Pool brush.
- Test kit.
- Pump.
- Filter.
Telescopic Pole: This is the pole that a wide range of accessories can be attached to. The accessories include vacuum head, pool brush, and skim net.

Net: Nets are used to remove debris floating on pool surface and from the pool floor.

Vacuum Head: The vacuum head is used to removed dirt that have settled on the pool floor which can not be removed by the nets. A vacuum head is attached to a telescopic pole and a vacuum hose at a time and then lowered into the pool.

Vacuum Hose: The vacuum hose is used to remove dirt and debris from the pool. One end of the hose is fixed to the vacuum head while the other end is plugged to the pool’s suction line. Water is filled into the hose to remove air before the other end is plugged to the suction line.

Pool Brush: The pool brushes are used to remove algae and other dirt from the pool walls by brushing them down the pool floor where they can then be removed by vacuuming out.

Test Kit: The test kit is used to test the chemicals’ levels in the swimming pool water to ensure it is safe for swimming. The chlorine and pH level of the swimming pool are tested with test kit.

Pump: The pump moves the pool water through filter where dirt and debris that are contain in the water are trapped.

Filter: The filter is one of the most important equipment used in maintaining a clean and safe swimming pool. There are three basic types of filter, they are: sand filter, cartridge filter; and diatomaceous earth filter.
