The coronavirus disease (COVID-19) is infection that is fast spreading and is now a pandemic. The COVID-19 is of international concern since it is fast spreading to countries around the world. The coronavirus originated from Wuhan in China in November 2019.

COVID-19 Symptoms

The symptoms that are associated with COVID-19 are fever, cough, breathing issue, runny nose, sore throat. It may take up to 14 days for the symptoms to show.

How it spreads

The COVID-19 spreads when the fluid droplets from someone who has the virus coughs or sneezes and another person inhales the infected fluid through his/her nose, mouth and eyes.

Healthy people could also contract the COVID-19 virus by touching their noses, eyes and mouths after coming in contact with contaminated surfaces.

Preventing the spread of COVID-19

Always keep a distance between 1m and 2m from someone coughing or sneezing.

As much as possible, avoid being in a crowd because you don’t know who is living with the virus.

Always ensure your surroundings and surfaces (door knobs, lift buttons, hand rails, etc.) are clean and hygienic, use disinfectant and dispose waste properly in closed bins.

Thoroughly wash your hands with soaps and water regularly for about 20 seconds each time. Washing of your hands will kill the virus if it is in your hands.

Use hand sanitizers when you are in a public place.

Always cover your nose/mouth when you sneeze or cough and dispose the used masks/tissues properly in a covered bin.

When you are sick, kindly avoid close contact with people around you and seek medical advice.
